ACCUSED INVOLVED IN CRIMINAL CASES IN BATHINDA AND MANSA

A team of Special Cell/NDR, led by Inspr. Praveen Duggal and Inspr. Rakesh Rana under the close supervision of ACsP Lalit Mohan Negi and Hridaya Bhushan, has arrested an inter-state Fire arms trafficker namely: Tarun Mehra R/o East Uttam Nagar, Delhi, age 42 years
Accused was apprehended on 06.06.24 from near Main Gate IP Park, Ring Road Delhi and was carrying 10 pistols of .32 bore in the cavity of the front door of his high end car. He has been found involved in supplying drugs and illicit arms/ammunitions to criminals of Delhi and Punjab.
In pursuant of constant drive against firearms traffickers, team of NDR, Special Cell received input that one person would come near IP Park, Ring Road between 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM in a white colour car and he would be carrying illegal arms and ammunition with him. Based on this secret information a raiding party was constituted which laid a trap at the place of information and in the late hours on 6.06.24 one white colour Corola Altis car bearing registration number DL 1C AA 1302 stopped at Ring Road near IP Park, Delhi.

At the instance of the informer the driver of the vehicle whose name was known as Tarun Mehra was immediately overpowered. On search of his car, 10 illegal pistols were found hidden in the cavity of the both side front doors of the above car. Accused Tarun Mehra above disclosed that he had procured the recovered weapons from an arms dealer of Burhanpur, MP the day before and he was to deliver these weapons to Punjab based criminals.
PROFILE OF ACCUSED TARUN MEHRA
Accused Tarun Mehra has studied up to 12th class and later on joined his family business of exporting gold to jewelers based in U.K. and other countries. After death of his father he incurred huge losses in his gold jewellery business. He used to go to Punjab where he befriended one Vishal R/o Bhatinda who asked him to supply narcotic drugs to earn quick money.
Accused Tarun Mehra had been living on rent in the area of Uttam Nagar since 2014-15 where he came into contact with a person of Nigerian origin by the code name of Lucky from whom accused Tarun Mehra started buying drugs and further supplying to Vishal in Punjab. However, in the year 2017, the accused was arrested by Punjab Police in NDPS Act case, but he continued supplying drugs to Vishal and other associates after his release on bail. In the year 2018 he was again arrested twice by Punjab Police in NDPS Act.
In Amritsar Jail accused Tarun Mehra came in contact with one Sahil @ Kalu, a local criminal of Amritsar, Punjab who indulged in trafficking of drugs and illicit weapons. Sahil @ Kalu asked accused Tarun Mehra to supply illicit weapons to him in lieu of good profit and introduced him telephonically with one J.D., a weapon supplier based in Burhanpur, MP. The accused Tarun Mehra after coming out of jail in the year 2022 met J.D. in Burhanpur, MP.
The accused used his high end vehicle Corola Altis to transport the illegal weapons from Burhanpur, MP to Delhi and Punjab where he used to give delivery of illicit weapons to the associates of Sahil @ Kalu above.
The accused Tarun Mehra and his associates were arrested by Chandigarh Police when he received amount in his bank account from multiple job seekers by alluring them to provide job. He was also arrested by Delhi Police when he was found carrying illicit liquor in his Swift dzire car for the purpose of bootlegging.

The accused has been arrested under Arms Act and further investigation is on to identify all the forward and backward linkages of this illegal firearms network.
