● TOTAL 16 GANG MEMBERS OF DIFFERENT CRIMINAL GANGS ARRESTED DURING THE RECENT DRIVE ● HEINOUS CRIME INCLUDING MURDERS AND FIRING FOR EXTORTION AVERTED ● TOTAL 10 PISTOLS AND 56 LIVE CARTRIDGES RECOVERED

Recently, a surge in the criminal activity of organized gangs was noticed. Since then, the Special Cell has been working relentlessly to pursue these crime syndicates in order to avert the dangerous situation that poses a threat to the law and order of the city. During the course of hunting down the crime syndicate barons, a large network of intelligence was invoked, and teams were briefed and deployed strategically for dismantling the nefarious network of dreaded gangs which are being operated from foreign based gang leaders and the ones lodged in jail.

During this drive to neutralize the threat posed by organized gangs, monitoring was done through technical means to identify the means of communication since most of the surge in these criminal activities has its origin through foreign soil and generate potential intelligence.

Mr. Amit Kaushik, DCP, Special Cell, said, that it was noticed that Gang leaders who have settled abroad in supposedly safe heavens or incarcerated in different jails recruit juveniles and/or young boys without prior records or involved in minor cases to avoid detection. Social media and popular songs glamorizing gang life attract more youth to join their gang members lodged in different jails in India or settled abroad. The gangsters usually lure these youths with immature minds in incidents of firing and even murders and later dump them for they easily manage to find more such youth available for exploitation.

Operations:-

1. Arrest:- Team of Special Cell, led by Insp. Vinay Pal, Insp. Arvind Singh and Insp. Manoj Kumar has arrested five gang members from Delhi and Jalandhar, Punjab on 21.06.2024.

Recovery :- Two pistols and 12 live cartridges

Criminal activity:- While three of the arrested persons are shooters the other two of them including a woman were engaged in recruiting gang members through social media and passing on instruction to the shooters on behalf of gang leaders and they also arrange weapons.
The shooters had already conducted reccee of a assigned target and their arrest has averted threat to life of a reputed businessman in Delhi.

2. Arrest:-. Team of Special Cell, led by Insp. Vinay Pal, Insp. Arvind Singh and Insp. Manoj Kumar has arrested three criminals of a notorious criminal gang.

Recovery :- One country made pistol and five live cartridges

Criminal activity:- One of the arrested gang members was wanted in a murder case. All three criminals were previously involved in cases of murder, attempt to murder, Arms Act.

3. Arrest:- In the intervening night of 21 & 22.06.2024, a team led by Inspr. Shiv Kumar and Inspr. Satish Rana of Special Cell arrested five shooters of a notorious criminal gang

Recovery: - 4 sophisticated pistols of different bores with 30 live cartridges.

Criminal Activity: The arrest of these persons has averted murder of two persons affiliated with rival gang. Four of the arrested accused have previously been involved in criminal cases of attempt to murder, Robbery, extortion and arms act, whereas two of them are wanted in a case of firing of extortion in Rohini area and in a case of attempt to murder in Rewari, Haryana.

4. Arrest:- A team of Special Cell led by Inspectors Alok Maurya and Shivraj Rawat has arrested a henchman of notorious criminal gang of Haryana form Faridabad, Haryana on 15.06.2024.
Recovery:- One country made pistol and 5 live cartridges.
Criminal activity:- Arrested accused was previously involved in 20 cases of attempt to murder, extortion, gangster act, robbery, Arms Act etc. in Delhi, Haryana & UP.
Presently he was wanted in a case of attempt to murder in Delhi and an extortion case of Haryana.

5. Arrest:-. Team of Special Cell led by Insp. Pawan Kumar and Insp. Satvinder has arrested two members of notorious criminal gang.

Recovery:- 02 single shot pistols of .315 bore and 04 live cartridges

Criminal Activity:- The arrested accused persons had procured the weapons for executing killing of rival gang member on the directions of a gangster lodged in a jail who was further getting instruction from the notorious gangster based abroad.

Further Investigation is underway in cases registered in this regard.
