Former Haryana Home Minister Sh. Anil Vij visited Dheen village in Ambala today to meet Sarabjot Singh, the winner of the Paris Olympics and congratulated his parents, saying, "Your son has made Ambala, Haryana, and the country proud." Sh. Vij also said that, "My efforts have been successful today as Ambala's son, Sarabjot Singh, won a medal for the country in the Paris Olympics."

Upon reaching Dheen village in Ambala, Sh. Vij hugged shooter Sarabjot Singh and conversed with his parents, saying that Sarabjot Singh has raised the flag of Ambala, Haryana and the country worldwide. He added that the facilities provided by their government to athletes are yielding positive results today.

"I always told Sarabjot that I had high expectations from him and Sarabjot Singh has lived up to those expectations" – Vij

Sh. Vij reminisced, saying, "Whenever Sarabjot Singh used to come to me, I always told him that I had high expectations from him and Sarabjot Singh has lived up to those expectations." He mentioned, "When the national flag is hoisted at the Olympics and the national anthem is played, one's chest swells with pride." He noted that their efforts to provide facilities for athletes in Ambala are yielding positive results and athletes are bringing glory to Ambala and Haryana. He stated that international-level facilities are being developed in Ambala so that their children can participate in international competitions and bring laurels to the state and the country.

Vij honored shooter Sarabjot Singh by putting the medal on him again and presented a memento of Lord Krishna. In turn, Sarabjot Singh's father welcomed Sh. Vij by presenting him with a ceremonial robe. Chants of "Bole So Nihal and Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Bhai Anil Vij Zindabad" were heard on this occasion. Sh. Vij also danced Bhangra to the song "Bari Barsi Khatna Gaya Si Khatke Layaya Medal, Bharat Nu Pankh Lag Gaye, Medal Jeetke Layaya Sarabjot. Bharat Nu Bhag Lag Gaye Medal Jeetke Layaya Sarabjot," and everyone present joined him.

On this occasion, athlete Sarabjot Singh touched Anil Vij's feet to seek his blessings and Anil Vij hugged the athlete and patted him proudly. On this occasion, former minister Sh. Anil Vij honored Sarabjot Singh with a bouquet and a shawl and offered him sweets.

Sarabjot Singh won a bronze medal in the 10-meter pistol mixed event with Manu Bhaker at the Paris Olympics

Notably, India's top shooter Sarabjot Singh made history by winning a bronze medal in the 10-meter pistol mixed event with Manu Bhaker at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Tuesday, securing India's second medal. Sarabjot Singh, hailing from Dheen village in Ambala, Haryana, is the son of farmer Jatinder Singh and homemaker Hardeep Kaur. He completed his education at DAV College in Chandigarh and trained under coach Abhishek Rana at the AR Shooting Academy in Ambala Cantt, located within the Central Phoenix Club. Sarabjot Singh entered the senior ranks as the gold medalist of the 2019 Junior World Championship and subsequently won the team gold and mixed team silver at the 2023 Asian Games.
