The NRI wing of the Punjab Police has registered an FIR against the gang leaders Malkit Singh and Jyotik Makkar alias Simar under sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 24 of the Immigration Act, 1983.
According to the information provided, this action was taken following a thorough investigation into the allegations of immigration fraud. A gang from Mohali has been playing with the dreams and money of the youth by providing them with fake visas. The fake visas provided by this gang are so convincing that even the police are finding it difficult to distinguish between real and fake visas.
Gurinder Singh, a resident of Kailon village in Mohali, filed a complaint with the NRI wing, stating that Malkit Singh and Jyotik Makkar defrauded him of Rs. 8 lakh. According to the complaint, in July 2023, the accused promised to secure a Canadian visa for Gurinder Singh's brother, Inderjit Singh. However, despite receiving Rs, 8 lakh in February 2024, the accused did not fulfill their promise and instead provided a fake visa.
The investigation has revealed that the accused do not have a license to work as immigration consultants. They deceived the complainant by conducting biometric and other document-related work for the visa process at Malkit Singh's residence. The accused took 8 lakh from the complainant, promising to secure a Canadian visa for Inderjit Singh, but instead provided a fake visa and failed to book the promised flight ticket. When pressured, the accused removed the fake visa from Inderjit's passport and returned it without any valid documents.
