ASSURED THE POLICE AND UT ADMINISTRATION TO CRICKET GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS IN THE THIRD EDITION

On the occasion of National Sports Day, UT Cricket Association (UTCA) Chandigarh President presented the certificate of 'Asia Book of Records' to SS Yadav (IPS), DGP and SSP Kanwardeep Kaur (SSP), Chandigarh Police after the successful conduct of the 17-day long Gully Cricket tournament.
The tournament was organized in the association of Chandigarh Police which also had the support of the Municipal Corporation along with the Sports, School, Social Welfare departments of the UT Administration. The record of the participation of the highest number of teams in any tournament is now registered in the name of the Gully Cricket Tournament played at Chandigarh.
A total of 302 teams participated in the tournament wherein 256 teams of boys' and 46 teams of girls participated. The total number of players were 3624. The theme of the tournament was 'Balla Ghumao, Nasha Bhagao', through which an effort was made to keep the youth away from drugs along with creating a passion for sports.
In the first edition of the Gully Cricket Tournament held in the year 2023, as many as 202 teams of boys and girls participated while the total number of players were 2448. During both the tournaments, UTCA also provided free uniforms and shoes along with cricket kits so that they could continue their cricket practice even after the tournament.
