The team of ASB Cell, Shahdara received confidential information regarding an individual named Lovekesh Thakral is allegedly operating a cricket betting racket from H.No.-H, Krishna Nagar, Shahdara, Delhi on Wednesday.
After confirming the credibility of confidential intelligence, a specialized raid team comprising of ASI Rajkumar, HC Kumar Divya Vats, HC Sachin Kumar and HC Navdeep led by SI Bhumeshwar Yadav in charge Anti-Snatching & Burglary Cell, Shahdara under the close supervision of Sh. Gurdev Singh, ACP/Operations/Shahdara and overall guidance of Worthy DCP Shahdara was constituted.
On acquisition of a search warrant, the team executed a raid at the specified location, apprehending one individual identified as Lovekesh Thakral R/O Geeta Colony, Delhi. This accused person was orchestrating a cricket betting operation focused on One-day international match between England VS India.
(SUBHEAD)Mr. Prashant Gautam, IPS, DCP, Shahdar, said, accused Lovekesh Thakral was found to be the principal operator, utilizing mobile phones and laptop. Upon thorough interrogation, Lovekesh Thakral confessed to being the ringleader of this illicit betting, admitting to the use of internet calling to liaise with his clientele. Over the recent days, he, had been conducting this illegal operation from his rented accomodation.
Following the procurement of substantial evidence, a case under FIR No. 90/25, dated 06/02/25, pertaining to Sections 3/4/5 of the Delhi Public Gambling Act 1955, was officially filed at the JagatPuri Police Station. The details regarding the involvement of the accused individual and the examination of mobile phones utilized in the illicit gambling activities are presently under scrutiny. Investigations into the case are actively ongoing.
MODUS OPERANDI:- Accused Lovekesh Thakral stands as the central figure orchestrating a widespread gambling network that spans across Trans-Delhi. The operation functions through mobile phones, records of bets are meticulously maintained on laptop, utilizing specialized betting software, notably Data Entry to log and compute wagers during matches.
Accused Lovekesh Thakral also utilizing mobile phones to accesses live match commentaries, current betting rates. he consistently disseminates updated betting rates to punters after every ball, ensuring real-time engagement. Bets cover a spectrum of outcomes including toss winners, run tallies, session performances, wicket counts, and ultimate match victories, with individual match bets in lakhs.
