CBI team comprising at least 20 officials on Wednesday night at Charkhi Dadri in Haryana and arrested retired colonel Amarjit Singh, Rajgarh in Rajasthan and onr Ramesh Kumar @ Mukesh Kumar @ Kumar TCP Gate 2, Devilal Colony, Satrod Kalan, Hisar. and former contractual employee at ECHS, Regional Centre, Hisar who were claiming to be the officials of Regional Centre, ECHS (, Hisar and for demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs. 22.5 lakh.
A case was registered against said accused on a complaint on allegations of demanding bribe of Rs 25 lakh from the complainant. The bribe was allegedly demanded to resolve issues arising from a recent raid conducted by ECHS officials at the hospital of the complainant and to obtain favourable order from Regional Centre, Hisar. Accused later agreed to accept bribe of Rs 22.5 lakh.The accused were caught red-handed while accepting negotiated bribe amount of Rs. 22.5 lakh from the complainant/ Director of an ECHS-empaneled hospital. CBI has recovered the entire bribe amount.
After receiving the complaint, the CBI team of Chandigarh made a plan to arrest the retired colonel red-handed. The hospital operator was sent to the retired colonel with powdered cash. After this, late on Wednesday night, a 20-member CBI team raided with half a dozen vehicles.
The Badhra police was also with the team led by Inspector Narendra from Chandigarh. At around 1.30 am, the team caught the retired colonel from Chandwas village with cash. The retired colonel, a resident of Chandwas village of Charkhi Dadri, was demanding bribe to keep the hospital operating in Rajgarh, Rajasthan in the ECHS panel. He had demanded Rs 22 lakh from the hospital management.

When the operator of the private hospital refused to give money, the retired colonel threatened to remove his hospital from the ECHS panel. After this, the hospital operator complained about it.
Sources said, retired colonel was a member of the ECHS panel while he was in the army. Now even after retirement, he has contacts with the panel. Taking advantage of this, he was demanding money from the hospital.
CBI is also conducting searches at the premises of accused at various places which has so far led to recovery of Rs 25 lakh cash from premises of accused formar contractual employee. Further investigation is continuing.
