Tammana, a dedicated organization focused on promoting well-being and community engagement, celebrated World Laughter Day on Sunday at Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh. The event aimed to harness the power of laughter to bring people together, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being by encouraging silly movements and playful games to lighten the mood.
The objective was to help passersby collect moments of laughter and have some stress-free time, providing a much-needed break from the complexities of daily life.
The celebration featured laughter yoga sessions, a “laughing out the longest” game, and a joke-sharing session. The team added an extra layer of fun by incorporating funny props like wigs, funny face painting, fake mustaches, clown noses, and goofy glasses, making everyone laugh out loud. Participants were recognized for their laughter and joy with titles such as “Best Belly Laugh,” “Giggle Champ,” “Silliest Smile,” and “Joy Spreader of the Day.”
Priyanka Garg was particularly energetic, earning the title of Joy Spreader of the Day.
To spread smiles even further, smiley balls were distributed for free—adding a cheerful touch to the event while also serving as a simple tool to help release stress. shared Event SPOC Neha Joshi.
"Laughter is a universal language that can bridge gaps and bring people together. We’re thrilled to celebrate World Laughter Day and promote its benefits to our community,” said Isha Kakaria, Founder, Tammana NGO. She further added that since laughter has numerous benefits, including physical advantages like boosting immunity and reducing pain, mental benefits like reducing stress and anxiety, and social benefits like fostering connections and community bonding, this felt right to conduct.
