FIVE DAY FDP ON ‘EMERGING TRENDS IN ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY’ ETET-2020 BEGINS AT GZSCCET

Five-Day online Faculty Development Program (FDP) on ‘Emerging Trends in Engineering and Technology’ (ETET)-2020 started at Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering and Technology (GZSCCET), MRSPTU Bathinda on Monday.

The FDP aimed to present emerging trends and developments in the field of engineering and technology is being organised under the able governance of Shri Anurag Verma IAS, Principal Secretary, Technical education and Industrial Training, which is in line with the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India initiatives to prepare Technocrats in emerging thrust areas .

Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Mohan Paul Singh Ishar inaugurated the FDP. More than 150-participants from various Educational Institutes of more thant10-States of India and industries have registered for this 5-day event.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Mohan Paul Singh Ishar said that at present times when the world is undergoing through fourth industrial revolution, automation, robotics and use of modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and Internet of Things (IoT) are permeating all processes right from manufacturing to clinical practices. "It is our duties to prepare the next generation of Engineers/Technologists to harness the new emerging avenues, therefore such FDP programs are essential to acquaint the teachers with these emerging trends in engineering and technology ", he said.

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering in collaboration with the Department of Textile Engineering are organizing the event on GZSCCET celebrating 30-years of its service to the nation, said Dr. R. K. Bansal, Course Coordinator, while sharing the objectives of FDP.

Speaking at the first session, Dr. V.K. Kohari of IIT Delhi explained the science and technology behind clothing comforts which is required under tough emergent situations like extreme temperatures and high-altitude terrains, and for better bacterial and virus protection especially while handling life threatening diseases.

In the second session, Dr. Mayank Dave of NIT Kurukshetra said Internet of Things is the core technology behind smart city and smart world projects.

During the five day event, Dr. Pramod Gupta, Lead Instructor University of California Berkeley and Independent Data Scientist shall interact on emerging Data Science techniques.

Dr. Mangala Joshi and Dr. R.S. Chattopadhyay, both IIT Delhi, shall deliver talks on Nanotechnology Applications and Statistical Optimization Techniques respectively. While Dr. Rajesh Bhatia will interact on Industry 4.0 and Academia.

Similarly, Dr. A. Majumdar, Dr. A. Das and Dr. S. Mukhopadyay, all IIT Delhi will deliver talks on Multi-criteria Decision Making, Spray Coating Technology and Green Composites respectively. While Dr. R. K. Bansal will deliver a talk on BlockChain Technology.  

Dr. Savina Bansal, Dean Academics MRSPTU and Campus Director GZSCCET Bathinda, emphasized on the need of such courses to keep abreast the technical Institutes faculty to meet the future needs of training to engineering students.

Dr. Jatinder Kaur, Registrar MRSPTU and Head, Architecture, Dr Sandeep Kansal Director IQAC, appreciated the efforts of the organizers.

Dr. Anupam Kumar Head Textile and Course Coordinator thanked the participants and experts for their overwhelming response to the event. Dr Neeraj Gill, head, ECE and event Convener along with other senior faculty of GZSCCET was present on the occasion.
