To strengthen maternal healthcare and improve access to family planning services, a special training workshop for doctors posted at Ayushman (Aam Aadmi) clinics was held at the Civil Surgeon’s office in Fazilka.
Chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu, emphasized the vital role the clinics play in providing essential healthcare to the community. She stated that this targeted training would significantly benefit expectant mothers and enhance the overall quality of health services in the region.

During the workshop, the doctors received hands-on guidance on comprehensive antenatal care, including the importance of four essential check-ups during pregnancy - monitoring blood pressure, weight, and identifying high-risk cases. The session also covered key topics such as nutrition, immunization, early detection of danger signs, and postnatal care.
Specialists who led the training included Dr. Nupur Garg (Gynaecologist, Civil Hospital), Dr. Sunita Kamboj (District Epidemiologist & Nodal Officer, Dr. Amna Kamboj, Dr. Pankaj Chauhan, and Divesh Kumar from the Mass Media Wing.
The DC expressed confidence that this training would make the doctors more skilled, informed, and empathetic, ultimately leading to more effective maternal care and family planning services. Doctors were also briefed on government initiatives such as the Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), and other national family planning schemes.
