INDIAN ARMY PAYS TRIBUTE TO CAPTAIN VIKRAM BATRA, PVC ON 26TH KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS ANNIVERSARY

The Indian Army paid a heartfelt tribute to Captain Vikram Batra, Param Vir Chakra (posthumous), at DAV College, Chandigarh, on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. Captain Batra, the brave warrior of 13 JAK Rifles (KARGIL), was remembered for his exceptional courage and selfless sacrifice during Operation Vijay on 7th July,1999.

The Felicitation ceremony began with an introduction of Captain Vikram Batra's valiant service as part of 13 JAK Rifles, presented by Naib Subedar Ghanshyam Dass. During the ceremony, Captain Batra's Next of Kin (NOK) in the family, including his father Shri Girdhari Lal Batra and twin brother Shri Vishal Batra, were presented with a memento and a letter of gratitude from Indian Army officers. The event was part of a special outreach campaign to connect with the families of martyrs and assure them that their sacrifices will never be forgotten.

On the occasion, Brig V S Chauhan, Group Commander, NCC Chandigarh, addressed the NCC cadets, inspiring them to draw inspiration from Captain Batra's courageous life. Smt. Mona Narang, Principal, DAV College, while presenting the vote of thanks expressed pride that Captain Vikram Batra was an alumnus of the institution, stating that his bravery and sacrifice had made the college feel proud.

Addressing the gathering, Sh.G.L.Batra said that Captain Vikram Batra's sacrifice and bravery will always be remembered, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations.His rallying cry ‘Yeh Dil Maange More’ still resonates in every Indian heart today, serving as a reminder of his unwavering commitment to the nation.

During the programme, a short movie on Captain Vikram Batra's life and sacrifice was screened, and a speech was delivered by an NCC cadet highlighting his bravery and legacy.

The Indian Army's tribute to Captain Batra is a testament to the nation's enduring gratitude for his sacrifice and bravery.
