Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today inducted the old Akali family of Harcharan Singh Hero, who later also served as President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, into the SAD with the late leader’s son Harpreet Singh Hero being made the Halqa Incharge of this constituency by party president Sukhbir Singh Badal at a massive political conference in Makhu.
Sukhbir said Harpreet Singh Hero, who is a prominent farmer leader and social activist, would be an asset to the party in the region and termed the Hero family’s comeback to the SAD as a homecoming.
Asserting that Kejriwal was now bent on looting Punjab, Sukhbir said that Kejriwal has done a deal with builders of Delhi to acquire and hand over 40,000 acres of fertile land to them. “This is being done to collect money at the cost of the farmers of the State. But SAD is committed to safeguarding the interests of farmers and would not allow even one inch of land to be acquired”, said Sukhbir.
Urging Punjabis to unite under the SAD banner, Sukhbir said that SAD has suffered due to the intense defamatory campaign carried out against us by both the Congress and AAP. He said the truth was now finally coming out with few senior Congress leaders admitting that party had done politics on the issue of sacrilege.
Sukhbir said that similarly the arrest and subsequent conviction of AAP legislator Naresh Yadav in the Malerkotla sacrilege case had proved that AAP Convener Arvind Kejriwal had a role in the sacrilege of the holy “Quran Sharif”.

Sukhbir said even on the issue of 2015 sacrileges, it was the Congress party which had demanded a CBI probe into the case to which former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal agreed in the interest of justice. He said both the Congress and AAP governments had failed to do anything on the two cases of sacrilege of 2015. “Two more cases which were left to the State involving cases of sacrilege in Moga and Malerkotla witnessed swift convictions”, he added.
Senior leader Janmeja Singh Sekhon while speaking on the occasion, referred to the SAD president as “Vikas da Maseeha”. He urged the people to compare the massive development done by the SAD governments from 2007 to 2017 with the utter failure of both the subsequent Congress and AAP governments on all fronts.
Senior leaders Joginder Singh Jindu, Mantar Singh Brar, Parambans Singh Romana, Satpal Singh Talwandi, Darshan Singh Sherkhan, Pritam Singh Malsian, Gurmeet Singh Booh, and youth leaders Chitbir Singh Zira and Surinder Singh Babbu were also present on the occasion.
