BATALA GRENADE ATTACK: DELHI POLICE ARRESTED ONE MORE BABBER KHALSA ACTIVIST FROM GURDASPUR

Delhi Police Special Cell, reported to have arrested one more accused Karanbir Alias Karan (22) resident of Amritsar in Punjab,  wanted in illegal arms trafficking in Delhi and also involved in the incident of granade attack by Babber Khalsa International (BKI) activist on 7/4/25 at PS Qila Lal Singh, Batala, said, Sh. Amit Kaushik, DCP/Special Cell.

Mr. Amit Kaushik, DCP/Special Cell, said accused is a member of BKI , a terriorist organistion involved in  the sensational case of Grenade Attack at PS Quila Lal Singh, Batala, Distt. Gurdaspur, Punjab in the month of April, 2025. He was also arrested in a case of Arms Act of PS Special Cell, Delhi. 

A team of Special Cell, New Delhi Range led by Insp. Satish Rana and Insp. Ashok Kumar Bhadana under the supervision of ACsP Shri. Hridaya Bhushan and Shri Rahul Vikram has arrested an accused Karanbir @ Karan, age 22 years r/o Chananke, PS Mehta Chowk, Distt Amritsar, Punjab having allegiance with banned terrorist organization, Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), from Gurdaspur, PB on 26.07.25 in a case of Arms Act of PS Special Cell. He has also disclosed his involvement in a case of grenade attack at PS Quila Lal Singh, Batala, Punjab. 

During interrogation, he revealed that he was in contact with a person from Punjab, but based abroad and handling operations for banned terrorist organization, Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). He was in touch with this handler through social media applications and getting instructions for committing criminal/terror activities. He also visited a west Asian country in the year, 2024. He received money from his handler for executing the said grenade attack. He also facilitated stay of two persons at his home before the attack, who had executed the task of launching grenade at PS Qila Lal Singh.

Special Cell/NDR, while developing intelligence regarding suspects involved in cases related to national security and simultaneously making efforts to identify and arrest accused persons involved in a case of Arms act of Special Cell, got information about one suspect Akashdeep @ Bazz of Amritsar, who was arrested from Indore, MP on 22.07.2025 in a case of Arms Act of PS Special Cell.

Akashdeep was also found involved in a case of grenade attack at Police Station Quila Lal Singh, Batala, Punjab on 07.04.25. After the attack, a post was circulated on Social Media by Happy Passia, Mannu Agwan and Gopi Nawanshahria, affiliated to banned terrorist organization “Babbar Khalsa International” (BKI), claiming the attack and also extending threat to Delhi.

Akashdeep @ Bazz was taken on PC remand. Following the leads based on his interrogation and inputs gathered through human sources and technical analysis, another, one more accused, namely Karanbir @ Karan was arrested from Gurdaspur, Punjab on 26.07.25 in the case of Arms Act of PS Special Cell. During interrogation, he also disclosed his involvement in the grenade attack case, currently being investigated by the NIA. Further investigation is currently underway.  

BRIEF PROFILE AND INTERROGATION: 

Accused Karanbir @ Karan is 22 years old and 12th pass. His brother Gursewak, who was also involved in the attack, has already been arrested in the case,added Amit Kaushik, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Cell/NDR; Delhi Police.
