Intensifying its crackdown on narcotics, the Police has recovered 13.21 kg of heroin and arrested three drug smugglers in two separate operations in Ferozepur district. This brings the total heroin seizure in the district to over 33 kg within a span of one week.
While addressing the media persons, SSP Bhupinder Singh said that in the first operation, based on credible intelligence, a team of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) apprehended two accused identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gori (19) and Gurpreet Singh alias Kaali (23), both residents of Rajo Ke Gatti village.
In the second case, the police laid a naka near Mohkam Khan Wala village and intercepted a suspect identified as Jograj Singh alias Samar (27), a resident of Asaal village, who was riding a two-wheeler (Activa PB 08 PE 4932). A search led to the recovery of 4.720 kg heroin from his bag, along with an unassembled pistol and eight live rounds.
“A trap was laid after receiving inputs about a recent consignment, leading to their arrest and recovery of heroin,” the SSP stated. Both have been booked under Section 21 of the NDPS Act at Sadar Police Station.
Earlier, on July 25, Ramesh Kumar was arrested with 15 kg heroin near Sodhi Nagar, and an additional 5.506 kg was later recovered from his house on July 27.
