In a major breakthrough, the Police Station Crime, Chandigarh of UT Chandigarh has succeeded in busting an interstate Narco Drug Smuggling syndicate. The case was cracked under the leadership of Sh. Jasbir Singh, (SP-Crime, Chandigarh), with the Supervision of Sh. Dhiraj Kumar, DSP-Crime, and led by Insp. Satvinder, SHO, Police Station-Crime Sector 11, Chandigarh.

On 30.08.2025 a team of Crime Branch headed by ASI Bhupinder Singh apprehended one person namely Baljit Singh S/o Gurnam Singh R/o Near Cremation Ground, Ugrewal, Teh. Batala Distt. Gurdaspur Punjab Age 55 years on secret information from Sector-43, Chandigarh and recovered 109.86 grams Heroin alongwith one country made pistol loaded with one live cartridge from his possession.Subsequently a case FIR No. 18 dt. 30.08.2025 u/s 21 NDPS Act & 25/54/59 Arms Act. PS-Crime was registered in this regard.

Baljit Singh @ Baba was in-touch with foreign based drug smuggler and was smuggling in Tri-City with his accomplices namely Parvinder Pal Singh Midda & Mandeep Singh @ Mandy. Later on, Baljit Singh was taken on police custody and his both accomplices Parvinder Pal Singh Midda & Mandeep Singh @ Mandy were arrested and recovery of 121 Grams Heroin and 25 Grams Heroin were made respectively from their possession.

MODUS OPERANDI: Initially arrested accused Baljit Singh was in-touch with foreign based drug smuggler Bhupinder and Dalbir. Bhupinder and Dalbir, both of whom are US based and are involved in drug smuggling through their local peddlers. They kept in-touch through messaging apps and deliver the drugs through local peddlers. They provided different locations for delivery of cash and drugs so that the person taking money on behalf of them and persons supplying drugs were different and are at different locations. Drug was supplied after the cash payment was confirmed. Baljit was one of the key associates of both. Baljit also remained an associate of Jasmeet @ Lucky arrested in US for cross border smuggling.

PROFILE OF BALJIT SINGH BABA AGED 44 YEARS: Baljit Singh @ Baba was born in 1970 in a farmer family in Gurdasspur District. He has studied upto 8th class. In 2000 he alongwith his father had murdered his father’s cousin brother and his son in a land dispute. He was convicted for 20 years imprisonment and when released on parole in 2010, he again murdered one witness namely Mintu, who was a Nyab Tehisldar. He was sentenced to life imprisonment for this murder and when he was in Bathinda Jail, multiple FIR’s related to causing hurt, rioting and NDPS were registered against Baljit @ Baba. He was shifted to Hoshiarpur Jail in 2013, where he came in contact with Jasmeet Singh @ Lucky who was also lodged in the same jail.

Later Lucky was released from Jail in 2014. From the jail Baljit singh @ Baba continued to guide and provide drugs to Jasmeet Singh @ Lucky. In 2017 Baljit Singh @ Baba was released from Amritsar Jail on High Court Bail, thereafter he alongwith Jasmeet Singh @ Lucky started living together in Jalandhar and were involved in drug peddling. Jasmeet Singh @ Lucky was arrested in Ludhiana in 2018 in NDPS case. Thereafter, Baba again met Jasmeet Singh @ Lucky in Chandigarh in 2022.

Jasmeet Singh @ Lucky escaped to US, from where he continued to be in touch with Baba. Jasmeet Singh @ Lucky supplied drugs to Baba through his associates in India. After arrest of Jasmeet Singh @ Lucky in US, Baljit @ Baba contacted another US based drug smuggler, Dalbir of Jalandhar, whom he met in Hoshiarpur Jail. Dalbir alongwith his associate Bhupinder are in contact with Baljit Singh @ Baba through messaging app and giving delivery of drugs. Baljit @ Baba met Parwinder Singh @ Midda in Chandigarh and both were selling drugs in Tri City area.

Parvinder Pal Singh @ Midda: Parvinder Pal Singh @ Midda S/o Sh. Amarjeet Singh R/o R/o # 2079, Guru Nanank Vihar Sec 48, Chandigarh age 41 years, Permanent Address back side CBI Mandi Killianwali Distt Muktsar PB. He has double master degree of MBA and MA both. He used to work in a finance company in Chandigarh. He was arrested in a matter of rape in case FIR No. 224 dt. 26.12.22 u/s 328,376 (D), 342 IPC PS-39, Chd. Midda came in contact with Baljit Singh @ Baba in Chandigarh and both Midda and Baba started working together. Both were arrested in FIR 36 dt. 23/02/2025 u/s 22/61/85 NDPS Act. PS- Tanda, Distt. Hoshiarpur, PB. Presently both Midda and Baba are taking supply from US based Bhupindera (associate of Dalbir) and supplying drug in Tri-city area.

Mandeep Singh @ Mandy : Mandeep Singh @ Mandy S/o Sh Amarjit Singh R/o # 947, Ashirwad Enclave Sec 49/A, Chandigarh age 32 years is as B.Tech graduate in computer science, 2017 pass out. He has earlier worked in Jio telecommunication company. He had quit his job two years back and starting preparing for Govt. jobs. During preparation, due to failure in recruitment exams and issue like breakup he was introduced to drugs by some of his friends. Later, became addicted to drugs. He came in contact with Baljit Singh @ Baba and Jasmeet Singh @ Lucky. He is involved in drug peddling in Tri-city area since last 1½ years, he is involved in drug peddling.
