118TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF SHAHEED BHAGAT SINGH CELEBRATED

The 118th birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh was celebrated Sunday evening jointly by different organisations. Hundreds of people gathered at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk and raised slogans Inqilab Zindabad, Vande Matram and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Amar Rahe. Even those who were passing through the road joined in raising the slogans. This depicted national spirit.

Organiser Parveen Chawla said that a marble statue of the martyr was installed by the Labour Council more than 55 years back. Later Bharat Hiteshi took the initiative of reconstructing the memorial and a life-size statue of Bhagat Singh was installed.

Mayor Vimal Thatai, Ex-MLA Arun Narang, Congress Block President Subhash Baghla, Gaushala President Faquir Chand Goyal, Lekhak Parishad president Raj Sadosh, Dussehra Committee chairman Varinder Grover, Colonel (Retired) SPR Gaba, Mamta Jasuja and Sanatan Dharam Sabha cashier Vikram Garg addressed the gathering. Lalit Soni recited a poem.

A special mention was made about Abdul Rasheed Qureshi Advocate, Founder Patron-in-chief of Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation, who belonged to Sukhera Basti in Abohar and his family and friends have been celebrating the birth and death anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh in Lahore.

The speakers also appreciated the Army and BSF for the great work done by them in relief and rescue operations during the recent floods.

Bharat Vikas Parishad workers distributed Prasad on the occasion.
