Police reportedly formed a 6-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) for the case. Chandigarh IG Pushpendra will lead the SIT. The other five members of the team include SSP Kanwardeep Kaur, SP City KM Priyanka, DSP Charanjit Singh Virk, SDPO South Gurjeet Kaur, and SHO Sector 11 West Inspector Jaiveer Rana. This SIT team of the Chandigarh Police will now pursue all possible investigations into the IPS suicide case.

It is noteworthy that the Chandigarh Police registered an FIR  on late Thursday night against the Haryana IPS and IAS officers whose names were left by IPS Y. Puran Kumar in his suicide note. However deceased wife IAS Amanit P. Kumar has objected to the FIR filed by the Chandigarh Police and has written to SSP Kanwardeep Kaur, requesting amendments. Amanit P. Kumar states that the FIR does not clearly mention the names of the accused. The names of the officers mentioned in the suicide note are not listed in the column for accused in the FIR. Furthermore, sections of the SC/ST Act that should have been imposed have not been invoked.

Amanit P. Kumar has demanded fair and just action from the Chandigarh Police. It is worth noting that Y. Puran Kumar's post-mortem and last rites have not yet been performed. Meanwhile, the suicide case of Y. Puran Kumar has now become a hot topic across the country. Dalit politics is also heating up over this case. Currently, this suicide (of Haryana IPS officer Y Puran Kumar) has brought Haryana's governance and administrative system under scrutiny. This entire incident has significantly impacted Haryana's bureaucracy.

Y Puran Kumar's IAS wife, Amanit P. Kumar, says that high-ranking officials in Haryana not only mentally harassed her husband but also publicly and caste-based humiliation because he belonged to a Scheduled Caste. He always served with honesty and integrity in his police service and maintained a clean record. However, a conspiracy was hatched to frame him in false cases. Amanit P. Kumar said, "My husband was so mentally harassed that he was forced to commit suicide. As a wife, my soul cries out for justice. My husband and our family must receive justice."

Haryana IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar committed suicide at his Chandigarh residence on October 7th. He shot himself with his licensed revolver, killing him instantly. His wife was not present at home when he took this extreme step. His IAS wife, Amneet Kumar, was on a trip to Japan with Chief Minister Nayab Saini. Following the suicide, an 8-page final note was recovered from his Sector 11 residence. Chandigarh Police and the CFSL team collected numerous evidence.
