In a major breakthrough against trans-border narcotics smuggling, sleuths belonging to the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) have successfully busted a Pakistan-based, well-organized narco syndicate, leading to the recovery of 3.5 kilograms of heroin.

Disclosing details, Sohan Lal Soni, AIG ANTF, said that the accused, identified as Baljit Singh alias Kaka, a resident of Village Kamale Wala in the Sadar area, had links with Pakistan-based smugglers. “Acting on specific intelligence, the ANTF team laid a trap and arrested the accused. Preliminary investigations revealed that Kaka, along with his associates, was in constant touch with his counterparts across the border and was managing large heroin consignments being smuggled here and adjoining regions”, said AIG.

An FIR under the NDPS Act has been registered, and further investigations are underway to trace the forward and backward linkages of the syndicate.
