DELHI POLICE NABS ARMS SUPPLIER “KOKU PAHADIYA” AFTER BRIEF EXCHANGE OF FIRE, ONE POLICE PERSONNEL INJURED

In a swift and courageous action, staff of PS Mehrauli successfully foiled an arms supply attempt and apprehended a desperate criminal after an exchange of fire in the wee hours on Saturday.

On the basis of secret information received by HC Ravinder regarding a notorious criminal involved in illegal arms and ammunition supply named Kanishk @ Koku @ Vishal @ Koku Pahadiya, a raiding team comprising SI Naveen, HC Ravinder, HC Sunil, HC Mahesh, Ct. Vinod and Ct. Arjun under the leadership of Insp. Sanjay Singh, SHO/Mehrauli and overall supervision by Sh. Raghuvir Singh, ACP/Mehrauli was constituted and a picket was placed at Lado Sarai, Samshan Ghat Road in the intervening night of 24/25 October 2025.

Mr. Ankit Chauhan, IPS, DCP, South , said, at  about 3:15 AM, a person riding a motorcycle was signaled to stop but he tried to flee, skidded, and started firing indiscriminately at the police team. During this exchange, bullets struck the bulletproof jackets of SI Naveen and HC Ravinder, saving them from grievous injuries. Despite repeated warnings to surrender, the assailant continued firing. In self-defence, the police team fired in retaliation, injuring the accused in his right leg. Later, he was overpowered at the spot.

One police personnel, HC Ravinder, sustained a bullet injury on his left arm and were shifted to Max Hospital, Saket. The accused, identified as Kanishk @ Koku @ Vishal, was shifted to AIIMS Trauma Centre.

Two automatic pistols, loaded magazines, and four empty cartridges were recovered from his possession. The Crime Team and FSL inspected the scene and collected exhibits.

The accused Kanishk @ Koku @ Vishal, also known as “Koku Pahadiya, Aged 27 years, R/o Madangir, Ambedkar Nagar, Delhi”, is a Bad Character (BC) of PS Ambedkar Nagar and is found involved in 13 criminal cases including robbery, theft, snatching and Arms Act.

The accused Koku Pahadiya was also found brandishing illegal arms through multiple photographs and reels on his Instagram profile. A take down request has been sent to Instagram to remove his profile from the social media platform. In 2024-25, 41 Cases of Arms Act have been registered in South District against the persons displaying illegal arms on various social media platforms. In these cases 33 adults and 8 CCLs were apprehended and from their possession 34 illegal fire arms and 7 knives were recovered. The Social Media Surveillance Team of South District continuously monitors social media to develop inputs about the profiles displaying illegal arms.

A case under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act has been registered at PS Mehrauli for further investigation in this matter.
