The sleuths belonging to Counter Intelligence (CI) Wing of Punjab police have nabbed a drug smuggler and have recovered 5 kg heroin from him.
While divulging details, Gursewak Singh Brar AIG Counter Intelligence said that said that following specific inputs, a special operation had been carried out during which the accused identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gora, resident of Habib Wala village was nabbed while he was travelling on a bike (PB 05 AU 0504) near Basti Khushal Singh Wala in village Hassan Dhut in Ferozepur.
The AIG said that during his checking, 5 kg heroin was recovered from the accused following which he was booked under sections 21-C, 61,85 of NDPS Act at Station Special Operation Cell (SSOC) Fazilka. The AIG said that the arrested accused was going to supply this consignment to local smuggler on the direction of Pak-based smuggler. The identity of local smuggler and role of the Pak based smuggler, along with its broader network, are under comprehensive investigation, he added.
TWO NABBED WITH HEROIN, FIREARM
In another recovery, the sleuths belonging to Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) nabbed two drug smugglers and recovered 2.80 kg heroin, 1 Glock Pistol, three mobiles and a bike. SSP Bhupinder Singh said that a trap was laid near Kamale Wala village during which the accused identified as Jaswinder Singh alias Shinda resident of Kilche village and Arshdeep Singh alias Deep resident of Jalal Wala village were nabbed.
The SSP said that during the checking, 2.80 kg heroin along with one Glock Pistol, 3 mobiles were recovered from the accused following which they were booked under NDPS and Arms Act at Sadar police station.
