The Punjab Police Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) on Saturday busted a cross-border drug trafficking network and seized 50 kg of heroin. Officials said the contraband was recovered during an intelligence-based operation, and one person has been arrested.

The accused has been identified as Sandeep Singh alias Sipa, a resident of Kapurthala district.

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav described the action as a major breakthrough in the state’s war against drugs. “The ANTF has successfully dismantled a cross-border trafficking module and seized 50 kg of heroin,” he said.

According to the DGP, the drug consignment had been sent by traffickers backed by Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. He added that Sandeep Singh already faces five previous drug-related cases and had recently been released on bail.
