CHANDIGARH ADMIN DEMOLISHED UNAUTHORISED CONSTRUCTION AT CHANDIGARH CLUB

The Estate Office, UT Chandigarh, conducted a demolition drive on Monday  at Chandigarh Club, Sector 1, to remove unauthorized constructions and ensure strict adherence to building regulations. The operation commenced at 6:00 AM, with coordinated action from multiple departments and enforcement agencies.

Adequate police arrangements, including the deployment of lady constables, were ensured by the Senior Superintendent of Police, UT Chandigarh, to maintain law and order throughout the drive. The concerned DSP remained present at the site during the operation.

The Chief Engineer, UT, arranged technical supervision through SDOs and Junior Engineers, along with a team of labourers and machinery. Water and electricity connections to the site were disconnected in advance as per requirement. The Chief Fire Officer, Sector 17, deployed one fire tender as a precautionary measure.

The SDM (Centre), supported by Executive Magistrates, ensured effective law-and-order oversight in coordination with the police teams. The Estate Office Enforcement Wing, including the Tehsildar (Enforcement), SDOs, Inspectorial staff, labour teams, trucks and demolition machinery such as JCB and Poplain machines, carried out the demolition under the supervision of the designated Nodal Officer who ensured proper identification of structures to be removed.

Civil Defence volunteers assisted in ground operations. The Health Department, Sector 16, deployed doctors along with two ambulances to address any medical contingencies. Administrative and support staff from the Estate Office ensured proper logistics, documentation, refreshments, and early-morning deployment for smooth completion of the drive.

On this occasion, Sh. Nishant Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner–cum–Estate Officer, UT Chandigarh, stated that the Chandigarh Administration remains firmly committed to maintaining the planned character of the city. He emphasized that all violations of building bylaws will be dealt with strictly as per law and reiterated that unauthorized constructions will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
