The Punjab Government’s Department of Personnel has released the official holiday calendar for the year 2026. According to the notification, the state will have 31 official holidays, of which five fall on Sundays and will therefore not affect routine government functioning.
Month-wise Highlights
January 2026 will have only one official holiday — Republic Day on January 26, which falls on a Monday.
February 2026 includes two major festivals — Sri Guru Ravidas Jayanti (February 1) and Mahashivratri (February 15) — but both fall on Sunday, resulting in no additional closure for government offices.
March and April 2026 have the highest number of holidays, with five government holidays each.
The department has also listed 13 reserve holidays, which may be declared depending on administrative requirements and local circumstances.
244 Working Days in 2026
As per the calendar, government offices, municipal bodies, schools, colleges, and other state institutions in Punjab will remain open for 244 working days during 2026.
