Panchkula Police, taking strict action against drug trafficking, has successfully deported a Nigerian national from India after he completed his sentence under the NDPS Act.
The Nigerian national, NWOSU NUAEMEKA ECHEZONA @ Amekka, was arrested on 11.02.2023 in a case registered on 09.02.2023 at Police Station Sector-20, Panchkula under Section 29 of the NDPS Act, for his role as a heroin supplier.
Earlier, another case under Section 21 of the NDPS Act was also registered against him on 04.07.2018 at Police Station Sector-31, Chandigarh, in which he was arrested on the same day. In this case, the court had already pronounced its judgment on 10.03.2023.
DCP Panchkula and Foreigners Registration Officer Srishti Gupta stated that on 22.09.2025, the Hon’ble Sessions Judge, Panchkula, Shri Ved Prakash Sirohi, ordered the deportation of the accused after completion of his sentence.
In compliance with the court’s orders, Sector-20 Police Station In-charge Inspector Sombir Dhaka and Clerk Constable Sarvesh Kumar from the Foreigners Registration Office completed all required legal formalities. As per the guidelines issued by the Home Secretary, Haryana, necessary documents were obtained from the Nigerian Embassy, after which the deportation of the Nigerian national was successfully carried out.
DCP Srishti Gupta said, “Panchkula Police is working unitedly against drug trafficking. The police is not only taking action against local drug traffickers but is also closely monitoring illegal drug activities involving foreign nationals. Deporting such offenders after completion of their sentence is an important part of the legal process.”
She further added that the purpose of this action is to completely stop illegal drug activities by foreign nationals in the future and to further strengthen law and order.
