In a major breakthrough, the team of District Crime Cell of Chandigarh Police acting upon the direction of W/SSP Ms. Kanwardeep Kaurand close guidance of DSP/DCC Sh. Vijay, under the supervision of Insp. Jaspal Singh Bhullar got a major success by arresting a gang of vehicle lifters namely Gagandeep Singh @ Gaggi, Sukhdev Singh @ Debu and Sandeep Singh @ Deep with their arrest 26 two wheelers were recovered i.e. 21 Hero Honda Splendor Motor Cycle, 2 Bullet Motor Cycles and 3 ActivaScooters. With this 21 cases of Chandigarh, 3 cases of Punjab were solved. Two vehicles are yet to be verified.
Accused Gagandeep Singh @ Gaggiand Sukhdev Singh @ Debu wereapprehended from near Radha Swami SatsangBhawan, Vill. GajaniWala, Distt. Ferozpur, Punjabnear VirsaDhaba, Ferozepur road towards Ferozepur to Jalalabad respectably. On their instance 13 motor cycles stolen from the different area of Chandigarh were recovered.
Accused Sandeep Singh @ Deep who was earlier arrested by the Mauli Jagran Police Station was brought on production warrant and during investigation, 13 stolen two wheelers were recovered on his instance.

Modus Operandi: The accused are found to be habitual of drugs and they used to commit thefts to arrange money for drugs. It was revealed that accused persons adopted well planned modus operandi to evade police surveillance. They deliberately did not used mobile and vehicles when they come to Chandigarh for committing thefts as to avoid technical tracking and other identification. They used to move in group and used to travel by train from Ferozepur to Daria (Chandigarh) for stealing the vehicle and after stealing vehicles they went to Ferozepur. They used smart/duplicate key to open the vehicles.
Further investigation is in progress to ascertain the involvement of the accused in similar incidents. The accused namely Gagandeep Singh and Sukhdev Singh were sent to judicial custody whereas third accused namely Sandeep Singh is in police custody.
