INDUSTRY WELCOMES GROWTH-FOCUSED BUDGET

CII NORTHERN REGION HOSTS UNION BUDGET 2026–27 VIEWING SESSION

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region organised a Union Budget 2026–27 Viewing Session at its headquarters in Chandigarh, bringing together industry members to jointly view the Budget and discuss its implications for industry and economic growth in the region. The Union Budget 2026–27 outlines a strong growth-oriented roadmap with continued emphasis on capital expenditure, MSMEs, infrastructure, manufacturing, technology, and skilling.

The ₹12.2 lakh crore capital expenditure outlay, India Semiconductor Mission 2.0, Biopharma Shakti, revival of industrial clusters, and focused MSME financing measures are expected to strengthen supply chains, boost investment, and generate employment across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, and the Delhi NCR.

Finance Minister also announced initiatives set to strengthen regional development. The development of archaeological sites into vibrant cultural destinations, including Leh, is expected to enhance connectivity, boost local enterprise, and create opportunities in hospitality, services, and regional tourism.

Complementing this, the launch of ‘Bharat Vistar’, a multilingual AI platform integrating AgriStack and ICAR practices, will improve farmers’ access to information and decision-making, particularly benefiting agriculture-focused states in North India by supporting productivity, rural incomes, and sustainable farming practices. Together, these measures are expected to drive inclusive growth, strengthen regional enterprise, and expand economic opportunities across North India.

Commenting on the Budget, Mrs Anjali Singh, Chairperson, CII Northern Region and Executive Chairperson, ANAND Group, said, “The Union Budget 2026 presents targeted interventions that will benefit MSMEs by improving access to growth capital and strengthening their ability to scale sustainably.

The launch of India Semiconductor Mission 2.0, with a clear focus on indigenous equipment, materials, design capability, and IP creation, is a positive step in boosting India’s electronics and advanced manufacturing ecosystem. Together, these measures can support deeper domestic value chains and reinforce India’s position in high-technology manufacturing.’

Mr Puneet Kaura, Deputy Chairperson, CII Northern Region and Managing Director & CEO, Samtel Avionics, noted, “The Union Budget outlines a steady and pragmatic approach to strengthening India’s industrial and technology ecosystem. Continued emphasis on MSME capacity building, access to capital, and supply-chain integration will benefit enterprises as they move up the value curve.” 

Mr Amit Jain, Chairman, CII Punjab and Managing Director, Shingora Textiles Private Limited, remarked, “The Budget’s focus on connectivity, services, and sustainable growth will generate employment and strengthen linkages between tourism, MSMEs, and regional supply chains.”Highlighting the regional tourism impact, Mr Vivek Verma, Vice Chair, CII Chandigarh and Managing Director, Spray Engineering Devices Limited, said, “The Budget’s push for services-led growth and sustainable infrastructure will boost connectivity, strengthen service ecosystems, and support local enterprise development.”

Mr Sanjay Suri, Vice Chairman, CII Himachal Pradesh and Executive Director, Morepen Laboratories Limited, added, “The development of ecologically sustainable hiking and mountain trails is a significant step for Himalayan states. It will promote responsible tourism while supporting local livelihoods and long-term sustainability. Allocation for Biopharma Shakti will strengthen the region’s healthcare and manufacturing capabilities, contributing to long-term economic and social sustainability.”

Ms Rachna Jindal, Regional Director, CII Northern Region, added, “The Union Budget 2026 signals continuity, stability, and a clear intent to strengthen India’s industrial and technology-led growth.
