ONE HELD WITH 6.38 KG HEROIN; POLICE’S CRACKDOWN CONTINUES

Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking, the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) has apprehended a drug smuggler and recovered 6.38 kg heroin from his possession.

Divulging details, SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said that acting on specific inputs, a trap was laid near Akku Wala village. During the operation, the accused, identified as Sonu Singh (29), a resident of Kilche village, was arrested along with the heroin, allegedly received from Pakistani smugglers.

The SSP stated that the accused had been in constant contact with cross-border smugglers and had a history of involvement in drug smuggling. He added that Sonu Singh had been booked in three previous cases under the Arms Act and NDPS Act at different police stations and had recently been released on bail.
A case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Sadar Police Station (FIR No. 24 dated 18.02.2026).

Notably, on February 14, the CIA had arrested four smugglers and recovered 22.295 kg heroin, along with two Glock pistols, magazines and live rounds. Earlier, seizures of 5.507 kg heroin on February 2 and 4.479 kg heroin on January 19 were also made by the CIA.
