Reinforcing its steadfast commitment to road safety and community-led initiatives, Deepak Sharma, Founder of Mayank Foundation, represented the Foundation as a distinguished panellist at the 2nd Summit on Automotive Future Advancement in Road Safety (SAFAR), organised by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.
Held under the theme “Drive to Zero: Strengthening Policies, Preparedness, and Partnerships,” the summit formed a key part of SIAM Sustainable Mobility Week 2026. The event brought together policymakers, automobile industry leaders, emergency response professionals, OEMs, NGOs, and civil society representatives to deliberate on pressing challenges surrounding road safety, post-crash care, and sustainable mobility.
Speaking during the concluding panel discussion moderated by Sumit Chaturvedi, Sharma underscored the urgent need for structural transformation in India’s road safety ecosystem. Drawing attention to gaps in infrastructure and emergency response systems, he said that many underserved regions continue to struggle with inadequate road design, weak enforcement, and limited healthcare preparedness to handle accident-related trauma.
“What India needs is a holistic shift — ecosystem-level reforms combined with stronger grassroots integration — so that prevention, response, and recovery mechanisms function seamlessly,” Sharma remarked.
Highlighting Mayank Foundation’s sustained work at the ground level, Sharma shared insights from the organisation’s road safety awareness drives, community engagement programmes, and collaborative efforts with law enforcement agencies and educational institutions. He emphasised that while advancements in policy and vehicle technology are critical, the real impact depends on strengthening last-mile coordination between communities, emergency responders, hospitals, and enforcement agencies, particularly in semi-urban and rural areas.
Mayank Foundation’s participation at SAFAR marks another significant step in its continuing mission to promote safer roads through awareness, education, partnerships, and structured interventions aimed at reducing preventable fatalities.
