Hundreds of people offered “Lal Salaam” to Het Ram Beniwal (95) veteran CPI(M) leader and former MLA, who was cremated at his ancestral Chak 8-LNP, near Sriganganagar. Last rites were performed as per the customs of the Bishnoi community, with a burial in his own field. His body, wrapped in the CPI(M)'s red flag, was carried from his residence to the cremation site.
CPI(M) Politburo members V.G. Krishnan and Amra Ram, State Secretary Kishan Pareek were present. Leaders and workers of Congress and BJP offered also paid floral tributes.
All India Kisan Sabha General Secretary Ravindra Tarkhan said that a prayer meeting will be held in Comrade Hetram Beniwal's native village on March 1.
Those present included CPI(M) MLAs Balwan Poonia, Girdhari Lal Mahia, Sriganganagar former MLA Raj Kumar Gaur, present MLA Jaideep Bihani, Improvement Trust former chairman Mahesh Periwal, All India Gramin Kisan Mazdoor Union state president Durga Swami, senior Left leader Bhura Mal Swami, former President of Rajasthan Bar Council Advocate Navrang Chaudhary, former President of Sadulshehar Bar Association Dharmendra Sharma, former President of Sriganganagar Bar Association Advocate Charan Das Kamboj, Inderjit Bishnoi, Vijay Rewad, All India Kisan Sabha District President Kalu Ram Thori, Vice President Kaur Singh Sidhu, CPI(M) District Secretary Vakil Singh, CPI(M) State Secretariat member from Hanumangarh Prof. Rameshwar Verma and other activists, including Om Jangu and Congress leader Banwari Lal Bishnoi.
