In a tragic incident, a newly married woman allegedly died by suicide after consuming a poisonous substance due to ongoing domestic harassment in village Khadial.

According to information shared by police, Jasveer Kaur, a resident of village Ealwal, was married about a year ago to Yadpreet Singh of Khadial. It is alleged that she was frequently harassed by her in-laws over various issues after marriage.

Under distress, Jasveer Kaur (29) reportedly consumed a toxic substance. She was immediately taken to a private hospital in Sunam, and later shifted to the Civil Hospital as her condition worsened, where she died during treatment.

Sub-Inspector Balkar Singh, in-charge of Mehalan Chowk police post, stated that a case has been registered against the husband Yadpreet Singh and mother-in-law Lakhwinder Kaur under relevant sections of the BNSS, and further investigation is underway.
