Child Welfare Committee, Sriganganagar received information that a child marriage of a minor child was being conducted by the people of Bhargava community in Padampur.
On the instructions of District Collector Dr. Manju, CWC Chairman Joginder Kaushik, member Anand Marwal, Vandana Gaur, Child Helpline Coordinator Trilok Verma, Revenue Patwari Okesh Khudia, SHO Padampur Suman Jaipal, Duty Officer Child Welfare Officer Harjinder Singh reached the spot of marriage venue.
When the team reached the spot, the wedding procession was ready to go to Vijayanagar, auspicious songs were being sung. When the team asked for proof that the girl had completed 18 years of marriageable age, the girl's parents presented the girl's Aadhar card and birth certificate for her age, in which the DoB of the girl was found to be 25 August 2008, which was not marriageable. The administration has imposed restrictions on not getting married until the marriageable age is 18 years and signatures of family and relatives have been made on the occasion by making a document.
The family members should not let the child get married at any other place by changing the place or time, hence the Chairman of the CWC has put on duty an Anganwadi worker and a policeman to monitor the occasion. During the proceedings, the team taught the lesson of law to the confectioner and the tent owner, in such a situation, the Pandit who was performing the rituals ran away.
