A rumour-monger who had put police and health services officials here  on toes by uploading fake message on a WhatsApp group about “coronavirus-infected” man was identified and nabbed in less than twenty-four hours.

Finding a man lying on ground in abnormal condition in a locality here, the miscreant uploaded video and audio clip claiming that the victim was infected by coronavirus. The teams led by City-2 police station incharge Baldev Singh and health officials were able to spot the victim and got him shifted to the civil hospital to provide medical aid.

It created panic among local people.

FIR-54 was registered on Wednesday under Sections 188, 505 (1B) of the IPC and Section 54 of Disaster Management Act 2005, 3 of Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 at City-2 police station. He has been held. The Mobile phone used for uploading the objectionable content has been taken into possession, DSP said.
