STF PUT BRAKES ON INTERSTATE NETWORK OF CARJACKERS OPERATES IN CONNIVANCE WITH TRANSPORT AUTHORITY OFFICIALS

THREE ARRESTED, 14 HIGH END LUXURIOUS CARS RECOVERED

Unearthing a scam, Haryana’s STF had put brakes on an interstate auto lifter’s gang being operated in connivance with transport authority officials after it arrested three accused, including two employees of Meham Transport Authority, in this connection.

With their arrest, 14 high-end stolen luxurious cars worth crores of rupees were also recovered.

Giving this information here today, the DIG STF, Mr Sateesh Balan, IPS had informed that STF, which has been established to deal with organized crime, had recovered six Toyota Fortuner, four Toyota Innova, three Mahindra Scorpio and one Breeza. 

Few accused such as Amit and Ramesh who are the main kingpins are in Chandigarh Jail and they are to be brought on Production Remand by STF on 3rd July. It has been revealed during investigation that Amit and Ramesh are the main kingpins who were in association with the gangs from whom they were receiving stolen vehicles.  

  
While one accused Parveen, a resident of Prem Nagar, Dadri has been arrested with a car bearing registration number HR-10-1616 stolen from Delhi, the remaining 13 vehicles were recovered from different locations by the STF team. The other two arrested accused belonging to Meham Authority were identified as MRC Anil Kumar, Computer Operator Sombir. 

The accused disclosed that the gang tampered the chassis and engine numbers in connivance with transport authority officials and got the vehicle registered with the transport authorities in Haryana on the basis of forged documents. 

During the course of investigations, Mr Balan informed that records of Sonipat and Meham Authority had been obtained with which the accused confessing to having involved in registration of more than 500 vehicles from different authorities without any documents. Raids are being conducted to arrest others involved in this organized gang of vehicle theft as well as recovery of stolen vehicles.

Accused Parveen Kumar engaged in selling stolen vehicles. He managed to charge the engine and chassis number in connivance with transport authority officials and then register the vehicle in the name of the buyer. His other accomplices used to first find out the empty numbers whose files and vehicles have been destroyed by the authority. After that, they in connivance with authority employees got the vehicles registered. They had sold out more than 200 such vehicles on fake registration.

Anil Kumar (MRC) is working as MRC Clerk in Meham and dealing with Registration Certificates, Back Log Entry, Duplicate RC and Transfer RC. He had misused his position along with Parveen Kumar, Amit, Ramesh and others for registration of vehicles on fake and forged papers, making it almost impossible to trace it.

Sombir (Computer Operator) is posted as Computer Operator in Meham office and also involved in this organized gang of vehicle theft. A case registered in this connection and the matter is under thorough investigation. Amit and Ramesh who are in Chandigarh Jail.

He was receiving stolen vehicles from the thief’s, forged the engine and chassis numbers and Liasoned with Clark’s of registration authorities and he’s the kingpin.
