 As part of the state government's drive to complete urban development projects in a timely manner, the Municipal Corporation of Abohar has withdrawn Rs 11.55 crore construction worksfrom a slow moving company. The corporation has also invited new tenders to expedite the pending works which will be opened on August 20.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Abhijeet Kaplish said thatin 2016 tenders were allotted for various development works here worth Rs 119.16 crore. This included works related to water supply, sewerage, roads, water works etc. However, the pace of work by the company concerned was very slow and did not meet the terms of the tender.

Kaplish said that the works worth Rs. 24 crore were related to road component. Out of which the said company had done some work but it visibly appeared that the company was not interested in completing the remaining work on time.

As a result, the MC exercising its powers has withdrawn works worth Rs 11.55 crore from the said company and called for new tenders to complete the same.

ADC Kaplish, who also holds the charge of MC Commissioner said that the pending works include construction of roadsin Panjpeer Colony, Dharam Nagari, Baba Deep Singh Nagar, Guru Kripa Nagar and Sriganganagar Road. The aim was to solve the problems of the people as soon as possible by constructing the remaining roads and dedicate thesame to the people. The corporation would take stern action against any negligence in carrying out the outstanding work as per the prescribed rules, he warned.

Punjab Water Supply Sewerage Board XEN Jugal Kishore said that the action will pave the way for speedy completion of outstanding works under the project here.
