COVID SPIKE CURTAILS INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS IN MOHALI

• NO PUBLIC GATHERING, NO CULTURAL PROGRAM , NO PHYSICAL PRESENTATION OF AWARDS AND HONOURS• PUBLIC TO JOIN THROUGH WEBCASTING OF EVENT

Taking stock of the arrangements for state level Independence Day celebrations to be held at Government College phase 6, Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan after the full dress rehearsal of the event informed that owing to the COVID crisis, the Independence day celebrations would be restricted to hoisting the national flag followed by the address by Chief Minister Punjab. 

  

 

He said that in the interest of public safety no public gathering would be held on the occasion and no school children would be involved in the celebrations, where by no cultural programme would be organized. Even, the physical presentation of honours and awards would be avoided. He informed that the webcasting of the event would be live through social media platforms namely the Facebook, twitter, instagram and on youtube.

Detailing about media coverage of the event, Mr Dayalan said that all the state government’s recognized photo and electronic media representatives can cover the event from the venue or may choose to share it from the link to the program but others may please find it convenient to join via the live telecast link. All Media representatives and officers on duty, he said would be permitted to the venue only after due screening .

Despite COVID-19, the celebrations would be organized in a befitting manner and with full zeal, said he.

He was accompanied by SSP Kuldeep Chahal , Aashika Jain and Rajiv Gupta (both ADCs) SDM Jagdeep Sehgal, AC (general) Yashpal Sharma.

Mr. Sudhanshu Srivastva, Mr. Amit Prasad and other senior police officers were present on the occasion.
Adhering to safety protocols, complete sanitization of the venue would be ensured with only the essential staff on duty, informed the Deputy Commissioner.
