WOMEN EMPOWERMENT FAIR ORGANISED

The Departments of Women and Child Development &Social Justice and Empowerment organized a Women Empowerment Fair on the occasion of Constitution Day at Khuiyansarwer village, it was dedicated to Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Deputy Commissioner Babita Kaler was the Chief Guest.

Women enthusiastically participated in lemon spoon race, simple race, tug of war sports activities while self-help groups set up stalls and “Sakhi Kendra” at which the importance of nutrition in women and children was also explained. Voter registration and vaccination camps were also held. A glimpse of Punjabi heritage was the centre of attraction. Swaran Das, Retired Vigilance Director was the special guest on the occasion.

Deputy Commissioner Babita Kaler said that women have a very important role to play in the society, they should realize their responsibility and come forward to give a new direction. Talking about the mutual cooperation and community spirit of women, she said that women can reach great heights together.

District Program Officer Hardeep Kaur welcomed the guests and briefed them about the welfare schemes. Tehsil Welfare Officer Ashok Kumar informed about the drug free campaign being run in the district. CDPO Sanju was also present.
