In a touching tribute to his legendary father Sardool Sikandar, singer and composer Sarang Sikandar launched his latest single ‘Me & Her’ on his 32nd birthday at the Chandigarh Press Club. The event wasn’t just about a new song, but was about remembering a musical legacy, embracing new technology, and expressing deep love for family and music. The event was also graced by his mother and wife of late Sardool Sikandar, Amar Noorie who is also a noted actress and singer.
What makes ‘Me & Her’ special is its unique use of artificial intelligence, making it one of the first AI-based songs in the Punjabi music scene. Sarang, who has written, composed, and sung the song, shared that this track is his way of staying connected with his late father.
"This is more than a tribute. It feels like I’m speaking to my father through music, using the technology of the future," he said emotionally.
Their family’s musical roots run deep—Sarang’s grandfather Sagar Mastana, a respected tabla player from the Patiala Gharana, is known for introducing bamboo sticks in tabla playing.
"Music is in our blood," Sarang said. “My father sang while my grandfather played tabla with heart and soul. Now I’m using AI to keep that soul singing in today’s world.”
The video of ‘Me & Her’ features German-born Persian actress Dilber Arya and was shot in Dubai and parts of India. It tells a poetic love story, beautifully mixing old-world charm with a modern touch.
Adding more heart and harmony to the project was Sarang’s younger brother, Alaap Sikander who played guitar on the track and also handled the mixing and mastering, making it a true family creation in every sense.
The concept of the AI-enhanced video was crafted by Robin Kalsi, who also gave Sarang the initial idea to incorporate artificial intelligence. The video was animated and brought to life by Simar VFX, whose visual storytelling gave the project its unique digital essence.
