APPLICATIONS INVITED FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION DIPLOMA COURSES AT CRC SUNDERNAGAR

The Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC), Sundernagar — the only government-run institution of its kind in Himachal Pradesh — is inviting applications for admission to two-year diploma courses in special education related to disability. These courses are recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), New Delhi.

The aim of these courses is to train special educators in the areas of visual impairment, hearing impairment, multiple disabilities, and intellectual & developmental disabilities, thereby promoting inclusive education. CRC Sundernagar functions under the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD), Dehradun, which is an autonomous body under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India.

Key Features of the Courses:

• As per ministry guidelines, no tuition fee is charged from students with disabilities, wards under the care of persons with disabilities, and other eligible students.
• Eligible candidates can avail scholarships under the National Scholarship Scheme.
• The primary objective of the courses is to promote inclusive education and address the shortage of trained special educators in society.
• The Supreme Court has mandated the appointment of at least one special educator in every school.
• Inclusive education has also been prioritized under the New Education Policy (NEP).

Employment Opportunities: After successful completion of the course, candidates will have ample job opportunities as special educators, rehabilitation workers, or coordinators in government and private schools, inclusive education programs, special schools, NGOs, and rehabilitation centers. These courses are also suitable for those seeking self-employment.

Admission Process & Eligibility:

• Admission will be merit-based and conducted by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), New Delhi.
• Applicants must select the course of their interest and choose the Centre Code “HP01” while applying.
• Last date for online application: July 12, 2025
• Minimum Qualification: 10+2 pass with at least 50% marks.
• A relaxation of 5% marks is provided for candidates belonging to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), Scheduled Castes (SC), and Scheduled Tribes (ST).
