VETERAN ATHLETE WINS GOLD IN SINGAPORE MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIP

70-years-old Boor Singh alias Buta Singh, was given a warm welcome on return from Singapore for his achievement in Masters Athletics.

In the championship organised by the Singapore Masters Track and Field Association (SMTFA) Boor Singh alias Buta Singh competed in Men’s 70-74 age category 5,000 meter run and attained First position with a timing of 36:11.95 minutes. Sports persons from 25 countries participated in the Championship that was sanctioned by Singapore Athletics Association and supported by MOCA Sports. Boor Singh alias Buta Singh was awarded Certificate of Accomplishment.

He said that youths should stay away from drugs and concentrate on sports. They should serve the society by doing religious and social work. He demanded from the Punjab government there should be a separate track for running and walking in the Nehru Stadium of Abohar and financial help should be given to the poor players. Youths have talent but somewhere due to lack of management and money, they are not able to move forward.

After limiting himself to sports, he won many medals at state, inter-state and national athletic championships, this helped in winning the love of hundreds of youth.
