A warm welcome parade in respect of newly joined Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh, Dr. Sagar Preet Hooda, IPS, (AGMUT-1997 batch officer) was organized at Parade Ground of RTC, Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh.
The parade contingents of Chandigarh Police headed by the Parade Commander Sh. Dheeraj Kumar, DSP/Crime, Chandigarh Police, marched down along with pipe band & brass band and gave general salute to the DGP/UT Dr. Sagar Preet Hooda.
Sh. Pushpender Kumar, IPS, IGP/UT, Sh. Sumer Partap Singh, IPS, SSP/Traffic & Security, Ms. Kanwardeep Kaur, IPS, SSP/UT, Sh. Manjit Sheoran, IPS, SP/Headquarters, Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP/Cyber Crime, Chandigarh, Ms. K.M. Priyanka SP/City, all DSPs, Inspectors and about 350 police officials of NGO/ORs rank attended the function all the units of the Chandigarh Police force.
Dr. Sagar Preet Hooda, IPS, DGP/UT, in his official address thanked all present official at the function for organizing a wonderful disciplined welcome parade. He said Chandigarh Police focus on professional discipline. He emphasized that police should be empathetic towards complainants and understand their pain and suffering. It's very significant for police officers to adopt a justice-oriented and victim-oriented approach in line with new laws. The priority should be given to the Public work with transparency and accountability.
Dr. Sagar Preet Hooda, IPS is officer of 1997 Batch from AGMUT Cadre. He pursued PhD in sociology from Panjab University (1991-97), where he had earlier completed his MA in Sociology (1989–1991). He is an Edward S Mason Fellow from Harvard University, where he earned a master’s degree in Public Policy Analysis (2014–2015).
He also holds a certificate in public finance from Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy (2012) and completed a leadership and globalization programme at the London School of Economics in 2006. He was also served in Chandigarh in the year 1999 as a ASP.
Before becoming the DGP of Chandigarh, he held key positions like Special Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) and Joint Commissioner of Police in Delhi since January 2024. During his 27 years of embellishing service, he successfully held various important responsibilities and dealing with all aspects of policing, various law & order situations, crime, traffic etc. During his outstanding performances and record, he has been awarded President Medal.

The function was followed by high tea in a congenial environment of esprit-de-corps and the Chandigarh Police Band played melodious tunes for the members of the force.
