MLA Sandeep Jakhar said that more than a dozen villages have been affected due to heavy rains in the area last week. He said that due to the indifferent attitude of the district and local administration, farmers and other villagers were facing a lot of problems.

After visiting fields and houses in villages Sappanwali, Pattibillah, Dhinganwali and Dalmir Khera, he said that after five days, the government machinery was preparing to come into action. Apart from crops, hundreds of houses have also been damaged. If the water accumulated in the fields is not drained soon, the farmers will be ruined.

He said that no special Girdawari has been announced by the state government yet and neither has the district administration provided any equipment to the villagers for draining out the water. He said that he will soon meet the district administration to pursue the required steps including compensation for the victims.
