SESSION COURT SENTENCED LIFE IMPRISONMENT TO THE ACCUSED IN HOSHIARPUR YOUTH MURDER IN PANCHKULA

Distt. and Session Judge in a murder case that took place in the year 2019, sentenced the accused to life imprisonment. The court gave this historic verdict on the basis of the hard work and solid evidence of the Sector-5 police station.

Tanu Sharma, wife of the deceased Gagandeep Singh Bedi, resident of Hoshiarpur Distt. (Punjab), currently a tenant in Sector-26 Panchkula, had registered a case in Sector-5 police station on 10 August 2019. She told he police that  she was married in the year 2004 and she lived with her husband and two children. On 10 August 2019, Sandeep Kumar alias Sipu (age 31 years), resident of Maharaj Basti, Bathinda, Punjab, who was an old acquaintance of hers, came to her house. After having dinner together at night, everyone slept.

The next morning, Tanu Sharma made Sandeep eat breakfast and her husband Gagandeep drove to drop Sandeep to Zirakpur. After some time, when Gagandeep's phone was not reachable and later switched off, she got worried and went to look for him. Meanwhile, she received information from the police that Gagandeep had died. Sandeep's bag was also found in his car and his phone was also switched off.

A thorough investigation by Sector-5 police team revealed that Gagandeep was murdered by Sandeep himself. After the murder, he dumped the body behind Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Sector-3., Panchkula.

Marks of serious injuries were found on the body. The police called the scene of crime team to the spot and collected evidence, which provided solid evidence against the accused.

On Wednesday court of Additional Sessions Judge Bikramjit Arora sentenced accused Sandeep Kumar alias Sipu to life imprisonment and a fine of ₹50,000 under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, and 3 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹10,000 under Section 201.

DCP Srishti Gupta said that this verdict is a result of professional work, accurate investigation and strong evidence presentation of Panchkula Police, which gives the message that those who commit serious crimes will not be spared under any circumstances.
