BSF & SSOC, FAZILKA ACHIEVE HISTORIC SUCCESS : NAB 02 WITH 27 PISTOLS AND HUGE CACHE OF AMMUNITION

In a remarkable breakthrough against cross-border smuggling of weapons, the BSF, in a flawlessly coordinated operation with SSOC Fazilka, apprehended 02 arms smugglers and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition along the Fazilka border in Punjab.

BSF sources said, based on a meticulously developed information into a precise intelligence, a joint strategic ambush of BSF and SSOC was laid near village- Mahar Khiwa Mansa of district  Fazilka during the night time.

After a patient wait of many hours, the ambush team noticedsuspicious movement in the wee hours and successfully apprehended 01 criminal, and recovered 27 pistols, 54 magazines and 470 live rounds from a big sack in his possession.

Following sustained questioning of the nabbed delinquent, the team managed to apprehend his another associate from the same village. The accused are residents of village Teja Rohella and village Mahar Jamsher respectively. Both are in the custody of SSOC, Fazilka for further investigation to unearth their wider nexus and cross-border linkages.

This recovery marks a historic success, being one of the largest seizures of pistols in recent times in Punjab. The operation highlights seamless synergy between BSF and SSOC in combating cross-border arms smuggling. Swift action by security forces has averted a major threat of arms proliferation among anti-national elements attempting to destabilize peace in Punjab.  

Meanwhile DGP Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary investigation has revealed that this huge weapon consignment was sourced from Pakistan through a foreign-based entity, intended for use by criminal gangs in the state. The arrested accused were attempting to deliver these arms to ground operatives of criminal groups on the directions of their foreign handlers, he said. 

The DGP said that further investigations are being conducted to establish forward and backward linkages to identify other members involved in this module and track the origins of the smuggled weapons. 

Sharing operation details, AIG CI Ferozepur Gursewak Singh Brar said that acting upon reliable inputs, the Police teams of CI Ferozepur and SSOC Fazilka jointly launched a joint secret operation in the Fazilka area. During the operation, two suspected individuals were apprehended near village Muhar Jamsher, close to the Indo-Pak International fencing, in Fazilka, and recovered a large cache of 27 illegal firearms of .30 bore along with 470 live cartridges from their possession, he said. 

The AIG said that the identity and role of the foreign entity, along with its broader network, are under comprehensive investigation. 

In this regard, a case FIR No. 16 dated 11-09-2025 had been registered under section 25 of the Arms Act at Police Station SSOC Fazilka.
