GAMC ORGANISES PANEL DISCUSSION ON FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE

The Women’s Studies Centre of Gopichand Arya Mahila College, Abohar, under the UGC Scheme organized a thought-provoking Panel Discussion on the theme “Financial Independence: Why Every Young Woman Should Plan Her Own Future”. 

The distinguished panelists for the event were Bhavya Verma, Raina, Mehak, Rizvi, and Kanishka, who engaged the audience in an insightful and interactive dialogue. The discussion revolved around key aspects of financial independence, including the meaning of financial autonomy, the importance of early planning, challenges posed by societal expectations, and the common obstacles young women face such as pay gaps, career breaks, and lack of financial literacy.

The panelists also highlighted essential skills like budgeting, investing, and negotiation, while emphasizing the role of digital tools, mentorship, and financial role models in bridging the financial literacy gap. The session concluded with reflections on how women’s financial independence can transform society in the coming decades by enhancing confidence, decision-making power, and social equality. 

Principal Dr. Rekha Sood Handa congratulated the panelists for their excellent discussion and encouraged students to adopt financial planning as a vital life skill. The event was coordinated by Amandeep Kaur, Coordinator of the Women’s Studies Centre, with the support of Dr. Neeraj Mehta, Media Advisor and the organizing team members Shivangi Vij, Ramandeep, and Ushaminder.
