Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar launched the "Sangam - A Dignified Old Age and a Respected Life" campaign, run by the Social Service Wing of the Brahma Kumaris, at Shantivan, Abu Road.

Dr. Kumar said that the elderly don't need luxuries, but the affection of their sons, daughters, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren. When their children touch their hands, it cannot be measured by any material comforts. Only those who live in joint families can imagine the loving, emotional interaction between children and their grandparents. Today, joint families are disintegrating. There is a need to awaken awareness in society.

Such campaigns will inspire people to live a dignified old age and a respectable life. The Brahma Kumaris don't just preach, they demonstrate their actions. The speed and pace with which the Brahma Kumaris have advanced the Drug-Free India campaign is commendable. When service, cooperation, and love are combined, change happens naturally. A dignified old age and a respectable life is our culture.

Dr. Kumar said, “Our country still boasts unique examples of culture and tradition. We should remove the influence of Western culture in families and inspire children to help elders live a dignified and respectful life.”

MP Lumbaram Chaudhary, BK’s General Secretary BK Karuna Bhai and Joint Chief Administrator BK Santosh Didi also addressed. Social Service Wing’s National Coordinator BK Avtar Bhai welcomed all. A street play depicting respect for the elderly was highly appreciated.
