IAF ORGANISES “SEKHON INDIAN AIR FORCE MARATHON”

The Indian Air Force organized the first edition of The Sekhon Marathon, officially titled "The Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon (SIM-25), to honour Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, the only IAF officer awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his exceptional bravery during the 1971 Indo-Pak War

The event aimed to promote fitness, national unity, and the core values of the Indian Air Force. It was conducted simultaneously at 60 locations across India. The Jaipur edition was managed by the local AIF Station. The race categories included a Half Marathon (21.097km), 10K Run (10km), and 5K Run (5km). Race commenced from Air Force Station Jaipur and enrooted to Nahargarh/Jaigarh, making the most ideal route for running enthusiasts.

The run was flagged off by Hav Digendra Singh MVC SM. (Retd), Gp Capt KK Yadav VrC (Retd), MWO (HFL) Mahendra Singh SC (Retd), Air Commodore Tilak, President AFWWA (L) and Station Commander Air Force Station. The route taken by the runners went through lush green valleys, beautiful mountains and the natural flora and fauna of the Pink City, which gave an iconic and thrilling experience to the participants. Large number of participants from different walks of life participated in the run. The energy and the exuberance by the runners were exemplary.
