DELHI POLICE CRIME BRANCH ARRESTS KEY CONSPIRATOR OF KAPIL SHARMA’S CAFÉ, SURREY CANADA SHOOTINGS

In a major operation, during the intervening night of 24-25 November 2025, a team of Crime Branch, led by Insp. Man Singh, Insp. Arvind Singh, and Insp. Sunder Gautam, has arrested the prime conspirator behind the series of firing incidents at KAP’S CAFÉ (Kapil Sharma’s Cafe) in Surrey, Canada namely Bandhu Maan Singh Sekhon S/o Lt. Sh. Avtar Sekhon R/o Jawadi Kalan, Basant Avenue, Ludhiana, Punjab, Age-28 Years. The accused had fled to India following a crackdown by Surrey Police in which several of his associates were arrested.

OPERATION: In a massive blow to organised crime syndicates, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested Bandhu Maan Singh Sekhon the key strategist responsible for planning, executing and providing logistics support for firing at Kap’s Café in Canada. Acting on crucial intelligence regarding the presence of a prime accused in Punjab related to the Kap’s Café (Kapil Sharma’s Café in Canada) firing conspiracy, the team of Crime Branch immediately came into action.

The suspect was also wanted in a high-profile international arms trafficking case registered vide FIR No. 340/25, dt. 20.11.25, u/s 25/25(8) at PS Crime Branch, Delhi

The arrest follows the earlier capture of two key associates of international fugitive gangster, Sonu Khatri gang namely Mandeep Singh,  Dalvinder Kumar from Sector-29, Rohini, Delhi with seizure of 8 foreign-made semi-automatic pistols (PX- 5.7 & PX- 3, made in Türkiye and China) along with 84 live cartridges from their vehicle. The duo revealed that one pistol from the consignment had been delivered to Sekhon, establishing his involvement in the interstate and cross-border illegal arms supply network linked to fugitive gangster Sonu Khatri, currently operating from the USA.

Following this disclosure, a raiding party was constituted, comprising Insp. Man Singh, Insp. Sunder Gautam, SI Manish Kumar, SI Naveen, SI Vijendra Diwach, SI Bharat Singh, HC Sanjeev, HC Sumit, HC Ramjas, HC Amit, HC Vikas, HC Jitendra, Ct. Sonu and Ct. Vineet, under the supervision of Sh. Sanjay Nagpal, ACP/ARSC, and overall command of DCP Sh. Sanjeev Kumar Yadav. Acting rapidly on the high-value intelligence, a Crime Branch team moved to Ludhiana, Punjab, to verify the input and locate the suspect. The team maintained covert surveillance at the target location, during which accused Bandhu Maan Sekhon was positively identified through advanced technical monitoring and discreet ground surveillance.

After apprehension, during sustained interrogation, he not only disclosed about receiving illegal weapon which was subsequently recovered from his car (semi-automatic pistol, PX-3, made in China) but also his active role in series of firing at Kap’s café in Surrey, Canada.

INCIDENT DESCRIPTION: Kap’s Café, a business venture owned by renowned Indian comedian Kapil Sharma and located in Surrey, British Columbia, has been the target of three separate and violent firing incidents since its opening in July 2025.

TIME LINE OF  INCIDENT: 

10 July 2025: The first attack took place in the early hours of July 10, 2025, when multiple shots were fired at the café from a moving vehicle. Initially, responsibility was claimed by Harjit Singh Laddi, associated with the banned Khalistani militant group Babbar Khalsa International, who cited alleged insults to Nihang Sikhs made on Sharma’s television show as the motive. Later, foreign-based gangster Goldy Dhillon also claimed responsibility for the incident.

7 August 2025: The second attack occurred on August 7, 2025, once again involving shots fired from a vehicle. This time, responsibility was claimed jointly by gangsters Goldy Dhillon and Kulveer Sidhu through social media posts, describing the firing as a ‘warning.’ They alleged that Kapil Sharma ignored their calls, suggesting possible connections to extortion demands or the gang’s existing conflict with actor Salman Khan.

16 October 2025: The third and most recent attack took place on October 16, 2025, when a gunman again fired multiple rounds at the establishment. Following the incident, both Kulbir Sidhu and Goldy Dhillon claimed responsibility for the attack.
Though no injuries occurred, the incidents caused significant damage and heightened security concerns in Canada.

SEKHON’S ROLE & INTERNATIONAL LINKS:  Interrogation revealed that Bandhu Maan Sekhon travelled to Canada on 13.09.2023 on an employment visa and was residing at 9 Frank Town Space Driver, Brampton, Canada. Initially, he worked as a supervisory officer in a pharmaceutical company and while working there came into contact with members of the Goldy Dhillon gang, namely Daljot Rehal, Seepu, Sharry, and other associates of the gang, all residents of Punjab.

Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, IPS, Dy. Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, said, in the incident related to the firing at Kap’s Café in Canada, the shooters were identified as Daljot Rehal and Gurjot, who were working as per directions of one Seepu who is a wanted accused in several cases of extortion, firing on businessmen’s residences in Canada, possession of illegal arms, and murder and who is known to be the main conspirator and a key operative of the Goldy Dhillon gang. After arrest of Seepu by Canada Police, name of accused Bandhu Maan Sekhon surfaced as prime conspirator, planner, executer and logistics supporter behind the Kap’s Café firing attacks in Canada.

Subsequently, he joined the gang and became a key operative and started providing logistical support to the gang. Previously he was also associated with Harry Chatha gang, and had been arrested on charges of criminal conspiracy for extortion from India-based businessmen living in Canada and the USA, under the directions of Harry Chatha, who is a gangster-turned-terrorist and is currently working for PAK-ISI, and living in Pakistan.

Sekhon was earlier booked in Canada for serious offences including:

• Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm
• Careless handling of firearm• Possession of property obtained by crime • Possession of a firearm with altered serial number.

Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, IPS, Dy. Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, said, in the incident related to the firing at Kap’s Café in Canada, the shooters were identified as Daljot Rehal and Gurjot, who were working as per directions of one Seepu who is a wanted accused in several cases of extortion, firing on businessmen’s residences in Canada, possession of illegal arms, and murder and who is known to be the main conspirator and a key operative of the Goldy Dhillon gang. After arrest of Seepu by Canada Police, name of accused Bandhu Maan Sekhon surfaced as prime conspirator, planner, executer and logistics supporter behind the Kap’s Café firing attacks in Canada.

Following repeated firing incidents at Kapil Sharma’s Kap’s Café, Bandhu Maan Sekhon came under the radar of the Canadian Police, and on 23rd August 2025, he fled back to India.
