GRENADE ATTACK WAS MASTERMINDED BY PAK-BASED ISI-SPONSORED GANGSTER SHAHZAD BHATTI AND ZEESHAN AKHTAR WITH ASSISTANCE OF US-BASED AMAN PANNU: DIG SANDEEP GOEL. TWO ACCUSED PERSONS OPENED FIRE AT POLICE PARTY, INJURED IN RETALIATION: SSP GURDASPUR ADITYA

In a major breakthrough against Pakistan’s ISI-backed terror network amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Gurdaspur Police in joint operation with Counter Intelligence (CI) Wing Punjab has arrested four accused persons in connection with the Gurdaspur Grenade attack case and recovered one P-86 hand grenade and two pistols from their possession.
Those arrested have been identified as Pradeep Kumar, a resident of Hoshiarpur; Gurdit, a resident of Gurdaspur; Naveen Chaudhary and Kush, both residents of Talwara in Hoshiarpur. The recovered pistols include one Zigana and one .32 bore along with live cartridges.
DIG Border Range Sandeep Goel, while addressing a press conference said that preliminary investigations have revealed that the grenade attack on the Gurdaspur Police Station was masterminded by Pakistan-based ISI-sponsored gangster Shahzad Bhatti and his associate Zeeshan Akhtar with assistance from their US-based handler Amandeep Singh alias Aman Pannu from Gurdaspur and went to USA via Donkey route.
He said that probe has also revealed that Aman Pannu used to recruit foot soldiers to execute terror attacks in the border state on the directions of Shahzad Bhatti and Zeeshan Akhtar.
It is worth mentioning that this module had carried out a grenade attack at Gurdaspur City Police at around 7.30 pm on on November 25, 2025.
Sharing operation details, the DIG said that in an intelligence led operation, Police teams had arrested two suspects identified as Pradeep and Gurdit, who have provided financial and logistics support to the accused persons— Hargun, Vikas and Mohan— the module that had hurled the grenade at Police Station. Notably, two accused persons Hargun and Vikas were arrested by the Delhi Police.
He said that during the interrogation, arrested accused persons Pradeep and Gurdit have revealed about the role of Naveen Chaudhary and Kush, who had received two hand grenades sent by Zeeshan Akhtar, of which they handed over one to the module that had hurled the grenade on Gurdaspur Police Station on the directions of Shahzad Bhatti.
Preliminary investigation has also revealed that the duo were planning another grenade attack to create terror and disturb peace and harmony of the state, said the DIG, while adding that with the recovery of remaining hand grenade the attack has been averted.
Sharing more details, SSP Gurdaspur Aditya said that following the technical and intelligence leads, police teams have managed to locate suspects Naveen Chaudhary and Kush near village Jagatpur.
When stopped at Naka Bandi at village Jagatpur, both suspects opened fire on the police party, he said, while adding that in self-defence, police teams retaliated resulting in injuries to Naveen and Kush. Both the accused were immediately shifted to local hospital for medical care and are currently under treatment, he added.
The SSP said that police teams have recovered hand grenade and two pistols from their possession, following which the scene was cordoned off, and the Bomb Disposal Team was called to sanitise the area and defuse the grenade.
In this regard, two separate cases— FIR no. 289 dated 26/11/2025 under sections 109, 324(4) and 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Explosives Substances Act Police Station City Gurdaspur and FIR no 130 dated 1/12/2025 under sections 109 and 111 of the BNS, section 25 of the Arms Act and sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Explosives Substances Act at Police Station Purana Shalla— have been registered.
