CBI COURT SENTENCES OFFICE ASSISTANT, UIET, BBAU, LUCKNOW TO FOUR YEARS IMPRISONMENT IN BRIBERY

The CBI Court, Lucknow, on 09.12.2025, has convicted and sentenced the accused Vijay Kumar Dwivedi the then Office Assistant, UIET, BBAU, Lucknow, to Four Years Imprisonment with a Fine of Rs. 30,000 in a bribery case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered the instant case on 02.06.2017 on the basis of complaint by a Contractual Assistant Professor, University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET), Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow on the allegation that accused Vijay Kumar Dwivedi, the then Office Assistant, UIET, BBAU, Lucknow had demanded undue advantage of Rs.50,000 from the complainant to extend the tenure of his contractual service through, Director, UIET, BBAU, Lucknow.

During the trap proceeding, the accused Vijay Kumar Dwivedi was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs.50,000 from the complainant.

After investigation, CBI filed the chargesheet on 01.08.2017. The Hon’ble Court, after the trial, convicted and sentenced the accused accordingly.
