At an all-party tribute meeting held at the Panchayati Dharamshala in Sriganganagar, it was unanimously resolved to raise a grand memorial with a statue of veteran CPIM leader and ex MLA Het Ram Beniwal at Sriganganagar. MLA Jaideep Bihani will be the convener of the Memorial Committee.
Those who paid tributes included BJP MLA Jaideep Bihani, Congress MLA Rupinder Singh Kunnar Ruby, former MLA Raj Kumar Gaur, BJP leaders Mahesh Periwal, Ashok Chandak, Krishan Saharan, President of the Joint Traders' Association Tarsem Gupta, Comrade Bhura Mal Swami, CPI(M) leader Sheopat Meghwal, SAD leader Surjit Singh Kang, State President of All India Khet and Grameen Mazdoor Union Durga Swami, Bar Association President Hansraj Taneja, former Chairman of Gang Canal Project Gurpal Singh Sandhu, State Congress Committee member Ankur Miglani, District President of Progressive Kumar Sabha Mahendra Bagri, BJP leader Surendra Bhambhu, State President of Grameen Mazdoor Kisan Samiti Ranjit Singh Raju, CITU leader VS Rana, Convener of Kisan Army Maninder Singh Mann, former BJP District President Atmaram Tarad, District President of Kisan Sangharsh Samiti Amar Singh Bishnoi, AAP District President Shamsher Singh Brar and others.
The speakers said that Hetram Beniwal was a movement in himself. With his passing, an era of public movements has come to an end. They added that Beniwal was an undisputed leader of the people. A life-size statue of him in Sriganganagar city will inspire the youth with dedication, sacrifice, and commitment.
